Biography
I draw inspiration from the fields, meadows and rivers of Norfolk where nature is both torrid and calamitous. On my daily walks and sometimes through the lens of a trail camera, I capture the raw, unfiltered existence of animals in their natural habitats. These images, seared into my retina or captured on film, unveil moments steeped in primal instinct, revealing the delicate balance between the urge to fight and the instinct to flee. Each image serves as a window into the core of survival and the spirit of freedom.
In my work, I endeavour to capture the dynamic energy inherent in this fragile dance - a tension between liberty and the ever present shadow of threat. The instinctive reactions of fight or flight resonate profoundly with me, echoing personal traumas and the inherent human struggle for identity and authenticity.
My work transcends mere observation of wildlife, it becomes a mirror reflecting our own existential battles. It speaks to our fears of entrapment, our deep seated yearning for freedom, and our unrelenting quest to remain untamed amidst a world eager to define and confine us. In capturing these fleeting moments,
I explore the pursuit of our true selves amidst the chaos that surrounds us.
